The full range of development skills

Quality

In addition to the manufacturing process for knitting machine components, KERN-LIEBERS Textile also develops testing methods and equipment for quality assurance. From special testing facilities through development assistance to 100% inspection during the manufacturing process, we can provide a wide range of test equipment.

Our philosophy for the quality management of components for knitting systems:

Create quality

  • We want more than satisfied customers – we want to inspire our customers
  • For us, quality is more than the product, quality is everything we do
  • Quality is the responsibility of all employees
  • Managers are role models for their employees
  • We plan the product from development until the end of series production

Customer orientation

  • Competent and friendly cooperation
  • Optimal customer service and short reaction times
  • Fast control loops for quality and costs
  • Error-free products and services
  • Dependable schedules and commitments

Errors don't have a chance

  • Preventive quality assurance
  • Stable and reliable processes
  • Continuous improvement and employee suggestion system
  • Training of the skills of all employees towards quality-oriented action
  • We analyze the risk and implement measures to avoid errors along the value chain in order to ensure the highest levels of quality and product safety

Competitiveness and market leadership

  • Open-mindedness with regard to new processes and methods
  • Continuous research and development to maintain marketability
  • Building development partnerships with customers
  • Uniform quality standards and systems in all companies within the group
  • In-company training of skilled personnel and continuous training of all employees
  • Sustainable use of resources

The high-volume production of complex assemblies for knitting machines requires 100% inspection to ensure the right functional dimensions for each assembly. To achieve this, we rely on innovative camera technology, which is integrated into the process and checks every part after processing. Deviations are detected immediately and non-conforming parts are sorted out. One of the synergy effects from this cost-neutral testing is that the data is transferred to our QA system, where it is available for a wide variety of analyses. With no additional effort, the characteristic and process data collected can be used online for process optimization and analysis.

Testing of the surface, shape, hardness and microstructure

  • Traditional and computer-aided contour and hardness tests
  • Testing of microstructure and texture
  • High and very high resolutions and accuracies down to the nanometer range

In-process surface tests, including for example

  • 3D surface inspection processes
  • Tactile measuring systems
  • Image processing

At KERN-LIEBERS Textile, risk management plays an important role. A early and systematic feasibility analysis is carried out during the tendering stage.

With integrated process and inspection planning, we can eliminate potential sources of error to the greatest extent possible.

Fast-response quality control loops in production and technical planning along with a comprehensive quality management system at all locations allow us to successfully implement a global zero-defect strategy.

Our measurement processes for inspecting knitting machine components in goods receipt, in goods issue and inline at a glance:

  • Optical, tactile and laser-based 2D and 3D measurement processes, measuring range up to 400 mm
  • Tests in air-conditioned measuring rooms or in special measuring cells
  • In-process tests integrated into the production line (operator, automatic testing), some fully automatic measuring cells integrated into production
  • Adapted measurement solutions for specific applications
  • One special capability available to KERN-LIEBERS Textile is the ability to perform tactile measurements of geometries and tool cutting parts in ranges up to 0.02 mm with an accuracy of less than 1 micron. This is achieved using a fiber probe with a diameter of less than 20 microns.
